Mix Plus
A professional mix with additional production support built in.
Mix Plus is for songs that are already largely produced, but still feel like they need a little more before they’re truly finished.
Along with the full mixing process, I’ll listen for opportunities to strengthen the record with tasteful additional elements - whether that means keys, background vocals, percussion, textures, transitions, ear candy, arrangement refinements or other production choices that help the song land the way it should.
The goal isn’t to rebuild your production. It’s to identify what’s missing, add what serves the song and bring everything together into a finished record.
What’s Included
- Full professional mix of one song
- Level and balance refinement
- EQ and tonal shaping
- Compression and dynamic control
- Stereo placement and depth
- Reverb, delay and spatial processing
- Vocal treatment and integration
- Automation and movement
- Creative mix processing
- Tasteful additional production elements where appropriate
- Arrangement and transition refinement where needed
- One revision round
- Final high-resolution stereo mix
Additional Production Can Include
Depending on what the song needs, Mix Plus may include elements such as:
- Piano, Rhodes, organ, pads or additional keys
- Background vocal layers or harmonies
- Percussion
- Additional textures
- Transitions and ear candy
- Small arrangement refinements
- Production effects
- Supporting musical elements that help complete the record
The additions are determined collaboratively and are meant to support an existing production rather than turn the project into a full rebuild.
Best For
- Songs that are mostly finished but still feel like something is missing
- Artists who want more than a traditional mix
- Productions that need a few additional musical or sonic elements
- Tracks that would benefit from stronger transitions, textures or dynamics
- Independent artists preparing singles, EPs or albums for release
- Projects that need some producer perspective without requiring Full Song Production
How It Works
Send me your current production, multitracks or stems, rough mix and any notes about where you feel the song could use additional help.
You’ll also be able to tell me what you’d specifically like developed or added.
From there, I’ll evaluate the existing production, make the agreed production additions and build the final mix around the finished track.
Once the first version is ready, I’ll send it to you for review.
One revision round is included. Send your notes together once you’ve had time to listen, and I’ll make the agreed adjustments.
File Prep
For the smoothest turnaround, please make sure all audio files:
- Start from the same point in the session
- Are clearly labeled
- Are exported at full resolution
- Do not have unnecessary master-bus limiting or clipping
- Include effects that are essential to the sound
- Include a rough mix so I can hear your intended arrangement and balance
If you’re unsure how to prepare your files, the ASP File Prep Guide will walk you through it.
Turnaround
Standard turnaround is approximately 2 weeks after I receive all required files and project information.
Projects requiring more extensive production work may need additional time. If the scope starts moving beyond Mix Plus, I’ll discuss that with you before doing any additional billable work.
Revisions
One revision round is included.
Simple mix and production adjustments are part of the process. Major arrangement changes, extensive new recording, replacement performances or a substantial rebuild of the production may require additional time and cost.
What You’ll Receive
Your approved final mix will be delivered as a high-resolution stereo audio file suitable for mastering and release preparation.
Additional deliverables can be provided when agreed upon for the project.
Mix Plus vs. Mixing
Choose Mixing if your production is finished and you primarily need someone to bring the existing tracks together into the final mix.
Choose Mix Plus if the production is mostly finished but you’d like me to help identify and add a few elements that will strengthen the record before completing the mix.
When Full Song Production Makes More Sense
If your song still needs substantial arrangement work, multiple new instrumental parts, live players, major production development or needs to be built significantly beyond its current state, Full Song Production will be the better fit.
$599 per song
We identify the areas that still want creative or production attention before the mix is locked.
Keys, textures, programming, arrangement details, vocal support or other producer-led additions where the song needs them.
The updated production is mixed as one complete record rather than treating the additions as separate pieces.
Reasonable editing and tuning needed to support the finished song are included.
One consolidated round of mix notes is included after you hear the finished mix.
The core ASP guides that support prep, references, mixing and mastering handoff are included at no additional charge.
The tools around the mix come with the project.
These four ASP resources are included with every Mixing Plus project and are yours to keep for future songs.
Also included when the project involves remote session musicians or additional remotely recorded parts.
Mixing Plus means focused production, not a rebuild.
The core song and production should already exist. Mixing Plus gives us room to solve a handful of creative details before finishing the mix.
If the project needs major arrangement development, extensive new recording, multiple additional musicians or a substantial production rebuild, Full Song Production may be the better fit.
Take the approved mix one step further.
Professional mastering can be coordinated through ASP for $75 per song after the mix is approved. There is no ASP markup or finder fee.
