Clear expectations.
Better projects.

These policies are here to keep the creative process clear, collaborative and predictable for everyone involved.

Project-specific scope, pricing and timing are still confirmed before work begins.

THE SHORT VERSION Know the scope, communicate clearly and approve changes before they become extra work.

Policies should protect the collaboration, not get in the way of it.

Most projects are straightforward when everyone knows what's included, what needs approval and what happens when the scope changes.

The sections below outline the standard ASP workflow. If a specific project requires something different, that will be addressed in the project quote or agreement before work begins.

The things worth knowing before we start.

01

Project Scope

+

The scope of the project is agreed before work begins. That includes the service being provided, the material being worked on and any known additional elements.

If the project changes substantially after work begins, ASP will discuss the change with you before adding additional billable work.

ADDITIONAL WORK $150 / hour

One-hour minimum for additional revisions or work outside the originally agreed scope.

02

Revisions

+

Mixing, Mixing Plus and Full Song Production include one consolidated revision round unless the project agreement states otherwise.

A revision round means one organized set of notes submitted together, rather than individual changes sent across multiple messages over time.

BEST

Gather your notes, collaborator feedback and timestamps into one message.

EXTRA SCOPE

Additional revision rounds or significant new creative requests are billed at the standard hourly rate.

03

Feedback + Approvals

+

If other people are involved in approving the project, please collect their feedback before submitting your revision notes.

Clear timestamps, specific musical references and a short explanation of the intent behind a note are always helpful.

YOU ARE THE FINAL POINT OF CONTACT

ASP works from the consolidated direction provided by the client responsible for the project.

04

Scheduling + Turnaround

+

Estimated turnaround is discussed before the project begins and may vary depending on the service, current schedule and project complexity.

Mixing and Mixing Plus are generally planned around an approximately two-week turnaround once the project is ready to begin.

Full production, session musician work, release support and live projects are scheduled according to the actual scope of the project.

TIMELINES ARE ESTIMATES

Delays in receiving files, feedback, approvals or required materials may shift the delivery schedule.

05

Cancellation

+

Project time is reserved around the agreed start date.

Cancellations made within 72 hours of the agreed project start are non-refundable.

If a project needs to move rather than cancel, reach out as early as possible and ASP will work with you on scheduling when practical.

06

Files + Client Materials

+

Clients are responsible for supplying the files and information needed for the agreed work.

For mixing projects, consolidated multitracks should be prepared using the ASP File Prep Guide.

SOMETHING UNUSUAL?

Tell ASP before the project begins. A short explanation is usually more useful than trying to rebuild the session yourself.

07

Rights + Permissions

+

Clients are responsible for having the rights, licenses and permissions necessary to use the music, recordings, samples, artwork and other materials they provide to ASP.

If third-party material requires clearance or permission, that responsibility remains with the client unless a separate written agreement specifically says otherwise.

08

Session Musicians

+

Public Session Team rates are starting rates and reflect straightforward single-part sessions.

Final pricing can vary by player, arrangement, number of parts and overall project scope.

BEFORE ANYONE RECORDS

The musician, role and session price are discussed with you before the player is booked.

09

Mastering

+

Mastering is available as an optional $75 per-song add-on through a trusted mastering engineer.

ASP does not add a finder fee or markup to the mastering cost. You are also welcome to use your own mastering engineer.

When arranged through ASP, mastering is generally scheduled after final mix approval and may require up to approximately one additional week.

10

Release Support + Artist Accounts

+

When ASP helps set up or organize artist-facing accounts, the client retains ownership, login control and payment information.

Distribution, streaming and sales payouts remain connected directly to the client's accounts.

SUPPORT, NOT OWNERSHIP

ASP can help navigate the release process without becoming a middleman between the artist and their platforms.

11

Live Services

+

Live projects are quoted individually according to the actual scope of the performance.

Performance length, rehearsal, travel, lodging, personnel, backline, technical requirements and other logistics may affect the final quote.

Reaching out about a live date does not reserve or book the date until the project has been confirmed.

Project-Specific Agreements

+

These policies describe ASP's standard workflow.

Individual projects may have additional or different terms based on scope, schedule, collaborators, licensing, live logistics or other project-specific requirements.

THE PROJECT AGREEMENT CONTROLS

If a written quote or project agreement contains terms that differ from this general page, the project-specific agreement applies to that project.

Ask before we start.

If something about your project does not fit neatly into the policies above, bring it up during the project conversation. It's much easier to solve the unusual stuff when everyone knows about it early.

Reaching out does not book or charge the project.
